Winter is now here

“Oh the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!”
- Sammy Cahn

For the past two weeks we’ve received quite a lot of snow. Last year there was so little of it that we had doubts if there was even going to be a white Christmas. However, this year it’s more than obvious that we will have great skiing season and a very white Christmas.

Snowfall is also great news for the FIS Ski World Cup committee and for all the locals in Levi.  Next week the whole town is filled with excited crowd, press and of course international skiing professionals including our very own Tanja Poutiainen.

Winter is what makes Levi come alive in its true form. We’ve had a gorgeous summer this year and we love the warmth of the summer season. But nothing beats the feeling when the first snowflakes start to fall from the grey sky.  Everyone in Levi has a feeling that this winter is going to be amazing.  Welcome to join us in our winter wonderland!

The Beauty of Northern Lights

”They are the signs from God” whispered the elders of the old times. Thousands of years later the modern  man discovered that those amazing lights in the sky are caused by the collision of energetic charged particles with atoms in the high altitude atmosphere.

Aurora Borealis in Levi

Aurora Borealis was named after a Greek’s Goddess Aurora (Goddess of Dawn) and Borealis the north wind. These amazing lights make most foreign people stop and stare in the sky with wonder but they do make us locals smile as well. There are certainly many benefits when it comes to living in Lapland.

You may as well start planning your exotic holiday by clicking here. We wish you all welcome to wonder the nature’s own light show next winter.

The warm shades of autumn

Autumn in Lapland is a spectacular display of nature. Everything turns in to the beautiful shades of warm yellow and orange. Locals call this “ruska”. When the nature prepares to fall asleep ahead of the winter Levi is just waking up. During the autumn season people all around the world come and wonder the beauty of Lapland’s nature.

Reindeers are often seen in the slopes of Levi during the fall.

During the fall people usually come here to hike, play golf and catch some fish from our local lakes. We in Hullu Poro concentrate to serve travelers the much needed accommodation, wellness services and of course the food. We prepare for the busy season in advance by renewing our รก la carte menus and making sure our restaurants are ready to receive our guests.

Next week is the official start of the autumn season. The green shades will disappear but it is only the sign of new life in Lapland. We wish you welcome to enjoy the wonderful season in Lapland.
